UOIT Mobile Education Project
The Mobile Education Project is developing course materials to be used in courses on mobile application development.  This material includes laboratory exercises, examples, assignments and project ideas.  It also includes an outline of the lectures that can be used in the course.   An example application, a mobile documentation browser, will be demonstrated as part of the presentation.

Presentations:

Vincent John Vincent, President and Co-Founder, Gesturetek and GestureTek Health

Vincent will discuss how video gesture control (gesture recognition technology) is transforming the mobile user experience.  Standard cameras embedded in mobile devices are now capable of joystick-style and “force of motion” control, face recognition support, advanced motion tracking support and finger tracking for ‘point’ screen control.  This enables users to play games, scroll lists, browse the web, turn pages, steer, navigate, and text message – all by using gestures and point motions instead button presses. Mobile phones are also enabling advances in gestural signage, integrating in situ with ad campaigns and immersive experiences.

Vincent John Vincent is the co-founder of GestureTek and has been the creative force behind the company and its technological innovations for the past 15 years. His unique insight and creativity has been instrumental in defining and developing the video gesture recognition and control industry. In addition to commercially marketing the company’s technology, Vincent is responsible for day-to-day operations and sales and marketing for the business. Vincent leads the company's activities in ongoing market identification, product development in multiple vertical markets, and worldwide installation of GestureTek systems, and has personally overseen the creation of well over 400 GestureXtreme virtual experience applications for games, corporate events, TV productions, education, and virtual therapy uses.

Adam Schwabe, IBM
